Hyundai, as we all know, has been on a roll these past couple of years. We've been stunned by the Sonata, electrified by the Elantra, and now it's time to be... um... amazed by the new 2012 Accent.
Okay, that's pure speculation - I have no idea of the new Accent will be amazing or not, as I'm still about a month and a half from getting my first turn behind the wheel - but I never miss an opportunity for corny alliteration. Regardless, the new Accent looks promising on paper. The 1.6 liter engine gets direct fuel injection, giving it best-in-class horsepower (138) and best in class fuel economy (30 MPG city/40 MPG highway with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions). The sub-$10k price is gone, which means the Accent will no longer be America's cheapest car, but 2012 Accents will still start just over $13k, which would put it at #4 on my list of the least-expensive cars of 2011.
We'll find out in a few weeks if the Accent is amazing or not, but meanwhile you can have a closer look at the new car in my 2012 Hyundai Accent photo gallery.
